AMT Albert W. Moore Leadership Award

2012

Stan Huffman was one of the most professional, generous, and thoughtful people I was privileged to ever meet. Stan founded a company from an idea and made it highly successful through his hard work and magnetic personality. His warm smile and the true interest he had for the lives of his employees were genuine and uncommon.

Stan founded the S.E. Huffman Corporation in 1961. Over the years he and his company were instrumental in developing many ground-breaking innovations, such as being the first to put a numerical control on a grinding machine, as well as pioneering the use of super abrasives. S.E. Huffman Corp was also the first company to patent an 8-axis CNC grinding machine and became a leader in laser drilling.

Because of Stan Huffman's individual inventive efforts and what has been hailed as a major breakthrough in the machine tool industry, his company grew from a handful of employees to over 150. the company has produced over 1000 high tech machines that have covered the world in Aerospace, Automotive, as well as many other industries.

The company that Huffman founded has long been a long-standing member of AMT (Association for Manufacturing Technology), and Huffman himself served on the Board of Directors from 1989-1992.
