Everyone in the industry should be proud of the value that we have contributed to the well being of the world. Our industry is one of the most important foundations for the advancements of manufacturing technology that have provided the basics of food, shelter, and livelihoods for the world’s population and the tools for advancements for the future.
I worked in the machine tool industry for almost 40 years, starting at the gear cutting/grinding company Gleason in 1979 after leaving public accounting. I spent 4 years there in various financial management roles before joining Hardinge Inc. at the end of 1983.
I started in a financial management position at Hardinge and worked up to Executive President/CFO with responsibilities for both the financial management of the Company and Operational management of the Asian operations. In 2008 I was named President/CEO of the Company and served in that position until May of 2017. Suring my tenure at Hardinge, our team acquired companies in Switzerland, England, Germany, Italy, and India and started companies in China and Taiwan.
I was blessed to have worked with some of the finest, smartest, and most dedicated people in our industry, both directly employed by Hardinge and through relationships with distributors and collaboration with other machine tool suppliers and builders.
I was very much involved in the industry through participation in the Association for Manufacturing Technology, serving on various committees and eventually Board of Directors membership and Chairmanship in 2016.
I am proud of what we at Hardinge accomplished over the years, of the products we built, the fine people we employed and most of all, for the help we provided to our customers through excellent, state of the art, and productive high precision machine tools and accessories.
Everyone in the industry should be proud of the value that we have contributed to the well being of the world. Our industry is one of the most important foundations for the advancements of manufacturing technology that have provided the basics of food, shelter, and livelihoods for the world’s population and the tools for advancements for the future.
